That plus an entire year of the Doctor’s abuse; because some of the things the Doctor did to Martha fit some of the criteria for what is defined as abuse. For instance:

• Making humiliating comments - his backhanded references to how Rose was so much “better” than Martha, which if you go by what Martha wrote in her Myspace(which was sponsored by the BBC and written by one of the DW writers) lasted during her first three months on the TARDIS, and not just the one-off comment in The Shakespeare Code.
• Playing mind games - His general hot/cold attitude with her during the entirety of S3, where one moment he’s being flirtatious with her and the next he treats her worse than he initially treated that flop wannabe companion Adam back in S1.
• Ignoring feelings and concerns or minimizing them - early in S3, he completely handwaves away her legitimate concerns about her race as if she has the same freedom to do shit like white men do.

and the emotional trauma and stress that she must have endured from race/gender intersectional micro-aggressions during her times in 1913 and 1969, is it really that surprising that she would just say “fuck this shit” and leave? It isn’t, because lbr, no matter how amazing the Doctor is, most of us would slap him and walk out the TARDIS doors if we were put through half the shit that Martha had to deal with.

Me every time someone decides to post their rubbish, ill-thought “opinion” about how Martha was the “worst companion ever” in the Martha Jones tag.

Because a whole lot of people wanna say she’s useless and whiny and didn’t do anything worthwhile and I’m sitting here like

I wanna focus on the last 3 episodes she was in for the 3rd season.

Because this right here is the climax of her badassery.

Everybody wants to put her down because she didn’t go Super Saiyan with TARDIS powers and shit. But really, Martha Jones is even MORE bad ass because of that fact. She didn’t have ANYTHING BUT THE JACKET ON HER BACK AND HER MIND AND SHE STILL KICKED ASS

This woman was stranded, by her damn self, for an entire YEAR. With a genocidal maniac’s giant military organization trying to track her down. She had killer robot drones after her trying to take her down. Her family was kidnapped and held hostage and tortured for an entire fucking YEAR.

This woman ducked and weaved her way around the goddamn WORLD. BY HERSELF FOR A YEAR WITH NOTHING BUT GOD AND HOPE TO GUIDE HER.

Just think of all the fucking HORROR she must have gone through. All the close calls of almost being captured. Having to learn to survive in teh wild because there had to be places that were 100% UNSAFE. People may have been brutalized and KILLED just because of the INKLING that Martha Jones may have been nearby by The Master’s military.

And she had to witness all of that on a plan that MAY NOT HAVE WORKED.

She could have been caught and killed at any point in fucking time.

But she wasn’t. BECAUSE SHE IS THAT. FUCKING. GOOD

This woman is the ULTIMATE SURVIVOR

This woman went to HELL, looked the Devil in the face and said FUCK YOU, BITCH I’M MARTHA FUCKING JONES

But you wanna call her USELESS?

GURL BYE.

Let us not forget that Martha had to travel near or around areas that were NUCLEAR WASTELANDS because The Master nuked humanity in order to dwindle the human population, along with his use of the Toclafane.

So whenever I hear about Martha being “whiny and useless” I think that person doesn’t know shit and clearly wasn’t paying any fucking attention to S3.
